About Nick
Ever since I was a child, capturing the moments and occurrences happening around me has fascinated me. I was always looking around at flee-markets and second hand shops for distinctive camera models. Though, what I was really interested in was not the collector’s value, but the peculiar cases, the stories behind the cameras and the techniques I would try out. I knew I wanted to be a photographer – yet, at the same time, I had a growing interest for computers and therefore decided to start training to become an IT-specialist. Today, I am convinced that the three greatest passions in my life – design, photography and IT – go together perfectly and mutually complement each other. They all have an equal share in my professional live.
Apart from the editorial and advertising photography I am doing today, I regularly take pictures at one of Switzerland’s largest and oldest open air festival: Openair St. Gallen. I find it inspiring and encouraging to rise to the challenge of difficult lighting conditions, of restricted space and time. I am also a regular photographer at the Swiss idea factory BrainStore, travelling with them for projects all over Europe. At those events, I always try to capture the participants’ and artists’ mood as well as the general ambiance at the exceptional places where the events are held.
